YES Chamber Orchestra Concert

Royal Conservatoire of Music, Brussels

Thursday 30th October 2008

The Chamber Orchestra travelled to the Royal Conservatoire of Music in Brussels on 30th of October at the invitation of the Flemish Language department. There, under the artistic direction of Ronald Masin, they performed an exciting repertoire of well known classical and traditional Irish pieces.

This very special occasion marked the return of Maria Keleman and Ronald Masin to their Alma Mater after an absence of forty years. In 1988 Maria established the Young European Strings School of Music in Dublin training students using the methodologies of the Belgo-Hungarian schools and developing the schools unique approaches to the teaching string instruments with great success.

The programme for this showcase concert was as follows: Concerto for three violins, string orchestra and harpsichord in F major by Antonio Vivaldi, the three young soloists are Phoebe White, Isobel Cordone and Claire Austen with Julien Wolfs on harpsichord; Hungarian-Jewish traditional melodies arranged for strings; Johann Sebastian Bach’s Concerto for violin in A major with guest soloists Gwendolyn Masin on violin and Julien Wolfs on harpsichord, and Serenade in C, opus 48 by Pjotr Tchaikovsky.

Twenty students and their parents travelled with Maria and Ronald to Brussels.
